February 14th holds a special place in my heart because it’s the day I was adopted and brought to the U.S. from Seoul, South Korea. Valentine’s Day is affectionately known as A-Day (Adoption Day) in my family & we celebrate with tons of love & gratitude.
You may not be adopted, but I hope that you are inspired to let the people you care about know it. Valentine’s Day (and Galentine’s Day) is truly about celebrating every kind of love – both romantic & non-romantic. It honors the love we have for our friends and family and if you happen to be in a relationship/partnership then that’s great too!
So if you’re looking for fun and unique ways to spread love on Valentine’s Day or any day of the year, no matter your relationship status, give one of these ideas a try.
3 Fun Ways to Spread Love
A Memories & Milestones Ritual
You’ll want to start this beautiful memories and milestones ritual from Skylar Liberty Rose with your partner, friend, family member or anyone that you love. Her ritual is specifically for an anniversary Love Letter & Wine Box but this can be adapted to any situation.
The idea of this beautiful ritual is to write a love letter to your partner, detailing the things you most cherish about them. In your own words, you can express all of the qualities that you hold dear about your chosen one, and your hopes and dreams for the future.
Once you have both written your letters to one another, they are each put into sealed envelopes. The next step is to buy a good bottle of wine, along with a box to keep it in. The envelopes and wine are then placed together in the wine box.
The box is not opened until your 5th wedding anniversary (or a number of your choosing). It is then that the wine is poured and the letters are read. It becomes a wonderful opportunity to remember where your love story began.

Send Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day Cards
Take the focus off of Valentine’s Day in the traditional sense by giving your closest friends a handwritten card to let them know much they mean to you and the contributions they have made to your life.
You could send them in the mail or if you’re lucky enough hand deliver them at a Galentine’s Day brunch.
Leave notes for strangers
We all know how the power letters have to connect us to one another is pretty incredible. There is truly NOTHING that can compare to sending tangible, physical mementos that can be cherished by the recipient. Handwritten letters can be preserved, re-read and appreciated over and over again. If you want to keep connected with your family & friends, what better way than sending snail mail?
And you can also spread love by leaving words of positivity and encouragement for strangers. This idea originated from an inspiring guest post from Josh Solar with great tips on leaving notes for strangers.
I’ve done this throughout the years and it’s so much fun. I’ve left notes with my favorite quotes, song lyrics and poems in craft stores, big box store aisles, doctor’s offices, tucked between books at my fave book stores, and tacked on coffee shop bulletin boards.
If you’re wondering what to write on the envelope try: If you find this it belongs to you.
